PRODUCT REGISTRATION UPDATE
The Ethiopian Food, Medicine and Health Care Administration and Control Authority has registered DKT's lubricant product with a brand name called “Smooth Move”. this registration is meant a lot to DKT to promote its activity to reduce the transmission of HIV/AIDS. It increases joy and helps to have smooth sexual intercourse by protecting sexual partners from abrasion due to friction caused by dry sex.
The medication abortion drugs registered by DKT are namely “Marisafe Kit” (Misoprostol 200mcg + Mifeprostone 200mg tablet) and Safe T Kit (Misoprostol 200mcg + Mifeprostone 200mg tablet) for public and private sector. As these drugs are prescription drugs, they need to be managed by authorized medical practitioners and need to be available in authorized outlets.
In addition, DKT recently received approval to assemble its Clean Birth Kits (CBKs) and registered contraceptive implants called Sino Implant with its Trocar for insertion. The CBKs are kits of 4 tables Misoprostol (for Post-partum hemorrhaging) along with a plastic sheet, a small bar of soap, a pair of sterile latex gloves, a sterile scalpel blade, gauze and 3 umbilical cord clamps.
DKT also plans to introduce female condom and a single dose of 1.5 mg emergency contraceptive pill. The pill can avoid pregnancy of unprotected intercourse if taken within five days (120 hours). It's remembered that DKT has already introduced similar pill of two doses under brand name of Postpill.
