YOUNG MARKETERS SELLS 14 MILLION CONDOMS (JUL - DEC 2012)
Young Marketers, DKT/E's initiative teaming Ethiopia's youth and anti-AIDS clubs with DKT Regional Offices to sell condoms and other products at the community-level, recorded an impressive 14 million condoms in sales for the six-months of July to December 2012.
Clubs also took in over 1.1 million Birr from the sales.
"Young Marketers is a great success for our organization," says Fasil Gutema, DKT/E's National Sales Coordinator and Young Marketers supervisor.
"With the program, we've managed to harness the energy of 1,000s of young Ethiopians while providing employment and income for clubs. It's really a winning partnership."
Young Marketers was piloted in 2007 as a collaboration between DKT/E and the German Foundation for World Population (DSW). Starting off with 9 anti-AIDS clubs in a handful of Ethiopian cities, YM currently consists of nearly 200 clubs spread across the country.
