7th media round table attracts leading journalists
DKT’s 7th Media Round Table attracted leading journalists from national media, including Wondwossen Tilahun of ETV and Adam Tadesse from 98.1 Fana FM.
Entitled, “Techniques in Reporting on Family Planning and STDs: How to Address Cultural and Religious Challenges”, the Round Table Discussion featured a keynote address by Addis Ababa University Lecturer Abel Adamu and included journalists from Addis Zemen, the Ethiopian Herald, and Sheger FM, among others.
“One challenge in Ethiopia is getting health professionals to talk about things like STIs, particularly on television,” says Fitih Tola, DKT’s Public Relations Officer.
“Journalists need creative ways to encourage providers to share what they know with the public.“
DKT’s Media Round Tables are quarterly discussion sessions with leading journalists about reproductive health, family planning, and child survival. The goal is to create interest in and sound coverage of these issues. DKT’s next Round Table will take place in March.
