DKT Ethiopia has been supplying sanitation pads to more than 50,000 schoolgirls in rural parts of Ethiopia.

Every girl deserves the right to shape her own destiny, to make empowered choices about her health, family, and career. However, without access to education, this right remains an elusive dream. Tragically, a lack of access to affordable sanitary pads is forcing many girls to abandon their education, leaving them without essential literacy and numeracy skills. This injustice cannot stand.

Through the REACH project, a collaborative effort by DKT Ethiopia, Engender Health, and Amref Health Africa, and supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ethiopia, we are taking action. This outcome-based financing project focuses on providing education and raising awareness among rural schoolgirls and women. By supporting over 50,000 young girls with sanitary pads, we have empowered them to stay in school with dignity during their periods, tackling the menstrual health management challenges faced by rural women and girls head-on.
